2024 BRIDAL TRENDS

2024 Bridal Trends

The shows are over and what a glorious show season it was!

So having pored over the runways, and looked through hundreds of images, I've put together my five key bridal trends for 2024.

Flowers

Flowers were everywhere this season. 3D floral applique is a huge trend, adorning both gowns and veils with fluttering flowers and petals from delicate blossoms to gigantic statement blooms. All over floral lace took on a new depth with Guipure and corded lace adding structure and femininity to statement ballgowns, while oversized flowers on one shouldered gowns add a fresh new look to floral embellishment, adorning minimal crepe, silk and mikado gowns with a dash of romance.

Bows

Bows are also a huge trend, seen on the catwalks in all shapes, sizes and colours. Demure small bows prettily accent the back and front of gowns, shoulders are tied with a bow and statement ribbons add a dash of colour, while dramatic oversized statement bows take ballgowns to a whole new level.

Colour

Designers truly embraced colour in every hue this season. Blue is a key trend, often added as an accent on a white gown, and shades of blush and gold were woven throughout collections in London, New York and Barcelona. Multicoloured floral embellishment in the form of print, embroidery or 3D floral applique is an important element and added a freshness to white gowns.

Feathers

Feathers have been trending upwards over the last couple of seasons but definitely come into their own in 2024. Whether adorning a statement ballgown, a cute mini or a pair of gloves, feathers add a perfect dash of fantasy to your look.

Sparkle

Sparkle has gone statement this season. From all over sequins at Berta to crystal embellished ball gowns at Elie Saab, Junya Katsume and The Atelier, glamour has never looked so bold or so beautiful.

2024 Bridal fashion is going to be bold. It seemed that after all the restrictions have been lifted, and in spite of world events, designers have tried to imbue their designs with a sense of hope, escapism and fantasy, resulting in uplifting fresh new collections that were a delight to see.
