How to choose your wedding jewellery
Share
Choosing your wedding jewellery can seem overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be. We've put together a brief guide to help you decide exactly what bridal jewellery to choose for your special day.
Choosing your wedding jewellery
Let your wedding gown, details, venue, theme and your own personal style inspire you. Your goal is to style your bridal look so that everything from your gown to your jewellery and accessories flows together effortlessly. Your wedding venue and the type of event you have planned influences your whole wedding look, so bear that in mind and plan accordingly. A weekend event for 150 with a welcome dinner, wedding and reception followed by a goodbye brunch means at least three if not four jewellery looks to co-ordinate with your outfits, while an intimate elopement with immediate family and friends plus an after party requires only one or two pieces of jewellery to complete your look.

Balance Your Look
Next consider the style of your dress. The whole idea is to balance your look seamlessly so that the jewellery compliments your whole look. If your dress has a period or vintage influence element, such as a unique lace or floral detail, use that as a starting point. If your dress is a contemporary Mikado, use the clarity of the design as a base to build on and if your gown has pearls or beading, echo the theme in your jewellery. And if you choose to wear hair accessories, use elements in the jewellery to tie back in to your hair accessories. Your jewellery should balance and elevate your own style without overwhelming you, allowing you to feel like the very best version of yourself. Coco Chanel famously said "Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off". Here's where looking objectively at your entire outfit is helpful.

Think about whether you are wearing hair accessories. Are they simple or statement pieces? A subtle hair comb or simple hair pins are elevated by co-ordinating jewellery, and with subtle hair accessories both a statement earring or necklace and a minimal matching earring, necklace and bracelet set work perfectly. Similarly, an impressive headband or crown can be complimented and balanced with a necklace or bracelet that echoes elements in the design of the hair accessory, but doesn't need earrings, necklace and a bracelet as the overall look will be overcomplicated. It's all about balancing your look. We're always happy to help with styling, send us an image of your dress and we'll give you some tailored styling tips.
Jewellery Styles
When it comes to the style of jewellery, think about your own personal taste, the style of your dress and the kind of event you have planned. Earrings are an immediate way to elevate a look, and come in a huge variety of styles from simple hoops to statement drop earrings. They're perfect for enhancing the lines of a halter neck dress, can lengthen your neck and and compliment both modern and period inspired gowns.

If you prefer to keep your earrings subtle, opt for a necklace. A statement pearl necklace or choker elevates gowns with a strapless or wide décolleté, fine stationed chains can be layered and stacked for a luxe boho feel and a simple pearl drop necklace adds a focal point to an elegant period inspired gown.

Your jewellery doesn't always have to be white. You can use a coloured semi precious or precious gemstone to echo a colour in your bridal gown, veil or shoes, co-ordinate with your bridesmaids or as your 'something blue'. We make our jewellery in both Sterling Silver and solid 9ct Gold, and we can even make bespoke pieces in mixed metals and coloured gemstones.
Wearing your wedding jewellery
Your wedding jewellery can highlight your favourite features and add the final finishing touch to your wedding day look. Earrings draw the eye up to your face, showcasing perfect eye makeup & contouring, and statement drop earrings can lengthen the line of your neck, adding to your height. A statement necklace will elevate your décolletage, while a stationed drop necklace, like drop earrings, will give the illusion of a longer neck. Bracelets enhance delicate wrists and when worn on your right wrist, provide a balance to your engagement and wedding rings.
We try to make choosing your wedding jewellery as easy as possible. Many earrings are available as studs or hooks, most necklaces are available in an adjustable 16"- 18" length, and all our bracelets are either adjustable from 15.5-18cm or are available in small, medium and large sizes. And because all our jewellery is handmade in our studio, we can easily create a bespoke piece to fit you perfectly.
